Bayern Munich’s Joshua Kimmich has won Bundesliga Goal of the Month, beating Florian Wirtz and Jamie Gittens.
The 29-year-old scored the Rekordmeister’s third goal against RB Leipzig in a 5-1 victory in the final round of Bundesliga fixtures prior to the winter break. Bayern’s thrashing of the Saxony club gives Vincent Kompany’s side a four point lead over reigning champions Bayer Leverkusen heading into 2025, while they sit nine points clear of RB Leipzig and Eintracht Frankfurt.
It was Kimmich’s first goal of the season, adding to his four Bundesliga assists in 15 games. The 29-year-old is entering the final months of his contract and no decision has yet been made on where the Germany international will be playing his football next season. In the view of sporting director Max Eberl, the decision for Kimmich is clear: Leave this summer or stay and become a Bayern legend.
“Joshua knows that’s what we want. He has to decide whether he wants a new challenge or whether he wants to become a legend at Bayern,” said Eberl. “When Neuer and Müller retire, he should become the face of Bayern.”
