Albion’s Grady Diangana is keen on a move to Celta Vigo come the end of the window, agreeing a deal with the La Liga side.
West Brom’s Grady Diangana wants to join Celta Vigo before the window closes on Monday and has ‘reached an agreement’ with the Spanish outfit.
As per a report from Africa Foot, the 26-year-old has been assessing his options as his contract winds down at The Hawthorns this summer, and it appears he sees his future away from the Black Country.
After a stunning performance against Portsmouth last weekend where the Congolese international recorded two goals and two assists, Albion boss Tony Mowbray revelled in the wideman, holding hope the club could convince him to stay beyond the end of this season.
But that appears an uphill battle now given the latest update on Diangana’s future, who is reportedly keen on departing this month so the Baggies can pick up a fee for him.
It would be a huge blow to West Brom in their race for the play-offs, particularly as Diangana had seemingly picked up some forward momentum after such a scintillating display in their 5-1 triumph over Pompey.
As explained by Africa Foot, West Brom have offered Grady Diangana a new three-year contract, but he has turned it down in favour of a move elsewhere.
He has also rejected a contract offer made by Championship rivals Burnley, who wanted to sign him on a free transfer for next season.
It has been revealed Diangana has his heart set on a move to Celta Vigo before the end of the window on 3rd February and has ‘reached an agreement’ with the La Liga side.
After agreeing personal terms with Diangana, it is now believed Celta Vigo officials will begin negotiating with Albion over a permanent deal, with the West Midlands club demanding around €3 million for his services.
It is unknown whether Celta Vigo will be keen on paying the set fee up front, or whether they will hold out for a move in six months’ time on a free transfer.
This news certainly comes as a body blow for Albion, who thought they had finally nailed down the playmaker to help provide much-needed goals at the top end of the pitch.
While the wideman had produced disappointing figures for a team in the promotion picture this campaign, his display last weekend gave everyone connected with the club optimism that he had turned the corner and would return to some of his better form.
Idolised by Tony Mowbray, the former West Ham man could still have a big part to play in Albion’s push for the Premier League, but a key decision must be made over his future, as the club will not want any players’ heads turned at such a critical point of the campaign.
