West Ham United are heavily keen to sign Galatasaray winger Baris Alper Yilmaz in the January transfer window, and the Hammers could make a move for him.
The Hammers are lacking depth in their forward areas due to injuries to several key players, and Graham Potter will be desperate to bring in some new faces.
West Ham showed interest in Yilmaz last summer, and it seems they have not given up on signing him.
According to Turkish journalist Kaya Temel, the Hammers are preparing a £21 million package offer to sign the 24-year-old winger.
“West Ham United are preparing to make an offer of €20+5m for Baris Alper Yilmaz. Galatasaray has an expectation of more than €30m for Baris Alper Yilmaz,” said Temel to Haber Sarikirmizi.
This means that Hammers are willing to pay £16.87m upfront and another £4.2m extra as add-ons. Galatasaray want a fee of around £25m, of which the majority should be paid upfront. In fact, they could demand a higher fee.
Yilmaz has been in great form for the Turkish giants this season. He has scored 11 goals and provided two assists in all competitions this season for Gala.
He is a key player for them, and it looks highly unlikely that Gala will be ready to sell him at a discount. They are fighting on all fronts for silverware, and losing him would be a big blow for them.
Having said that, West Ham are desperate to sign a forward this month, and they are in negotiation to sign Portuguese striker Andre Silva on loan from RB Leipzig.
Bolstering the wide areas could be a priority for the Hammers, especially in the summer, and Yilmaz could be a good option for Potter’s side.
West Ham are also reportedly interested in Wolfsburg winger Vaclav Cerny, who is enjoying a great season at Rangers on loan.
