Emmanuel Latte Lath's future at Middlesbrough has been the subject of intense transfer speculation
Middlesbrough forward Emmanuel Latte Lath is on a three-man shortlist of potential signings at West Ham this January.
According to Football Insider, the Hammers are looking to strengthen their forward options for new manager Graham Potter.
The 49-year-old has been appointed by the London club this month following the dismissal of Julen Lopetegui, overseeing his first game last weekend against Aston Villa.
The former Chelsea manager will be keen to improve his squad before the 3 February deadline, with the team currently 14th in the Premier League table.
Latte Lath has reportedly been shortlisted by West Ham as one of three forward options this January.
Evan Ferguson and Yuri Alberto have also been mentioned as potential transfer pursuits, with Potter keen to improve his attacking firepower.
Latte Lath’s future at Middlesbrough has been the subject of intense speculation this January.
It was reported on Monday by the Daily Mail that MLS side Atlanta United have made an offer worth £20 million for the 26-year-old amid interest from Leeds United and Ipswich Town as well.
It was claimed by The Northern Echo that the Championship club are waiting to see what kind of impact this £20 million offer has on the market before making any immediate decision over the player’s future.
Latte Lath signed for Boro in the summer of 2023 from Swiss side St. Gallen, with the player contracted to the club until 2027.
He has made 56 appearances in the Championship for Michael Carrick’s side, contributing 26 goals and three assists.
He has been a key figure for the side this season, with the club sitting fifth in the table and in the mix for a play-off place.
Next up for Middlesbrough is a trip to face Portsmouth on 18 January.
West Ham have cycled through so many forwards that any player getting linked to them should now have some element of caution.
However, Latte Lath could prove to be a good fit for Potter and this would be a great opportunity for him to step up from Middlesbrough.
It would be risky for the Teesside outfit to cash in now instead of waiting until the summer, as this could have a detrimental impact on their promotion push, just as losing Morgan Rogers last year hurt their play-off hopes.
