What Man Utd & Arsenal fans were heard doing to Andre Onana 33 mins into Arsenal clash

One has to wonder at Andre Onana’s mental state given the ongoing sense of anxiety within the ground whenever he has the ball.
The former Inter Milan shotstopper has been repeatedly criticised for some admittedly questionable goalkeeping between the sticks for Manchester United in 2024/25.
It’s led to pundits like Scott Parker calling for Ruben Amorim’s side to ditch the 28-year-old and, perhaps surprisingly, push to bring Leicester City No.1 Mads Hermansen to the club in his place.
Whether those calling the shots behind the scenes in the recruitment team will see eye to eye on that front remains to be seen!

It’s unsurprising that Onana’s inconsistent form has inspired ‘howls of derision’ from Arsenal’s travelling fans at Old Trafford.
There’s surely only so much the No.24 can do to shut out all the noise when he’s being peltered by the away support whilst the home fans groan at poor clearances.
“Groans of frustration around Old Trafford as goalkeeper Andre Onana kicks a clearance straight to an Arsenal player then sends another straight out of play,” Phil McNulty noted on BBC Sport’s coverage of the Premier League encounter, roughly 33 minutes into the game.
“Howls of derision from the Arsenal fans, who are now taunting Onana every time he has the ball at his feet.”
That’s not to suggest United fans haven’t been given serious ammunition in that regard,
In fact, according to stats compiled by Sofascore, Andre Onana currently ranks 10th for average ratings (6.88/10) in the Premier League this season.
For reference, David Raya – playing for our opponents on Sunday afternoon – sits sixth with his Sofascore ranking amongst Arsenal teammates, averaging out at 7.09/10.
United’s current difficulties can’t be laid solely at the feet of our No.1.
As we’ve already witnessed from the first half of action at Old Trafford on Sunday, there are still question marks over the standards being set by members of the starting-XI. Cough, cough, Matthijhs de Ligt, cough, cough, Casemiro.
From our perspective, whilst accusations perhaps might be fairly made over Amorim’s commitment to his system despite not possessing the ideal array of personnel necessary.
All the more reason why the manager needs time – and resources – in the coming summer transfer window to make his vision for the club a reality.
