Inter Milan will be hoping that they draw Feyenoord rather than PSV in the Champions League round of sixteen for two reasons.
This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews. They note that this would also allow the Nerazzurri to avoid Real Madrid.
Today, Inter Milan learn their fate for the Champions League round of sixteen.
Next month, the Nerazzurri will face one of two Dutch teams.
That comes as something of a surprise. Inter had been bracing for the possibility of a two-legged tie against either city rivals AC Milan or Derby d’Italia adversaries Juventus.
However, Feyenoord knocked out the Rossoneri over two legs. And then PSV made it two for two for Eredivisie by dumping the Bianconeri out in extra time on Wednesday.
Inter Milan certainly will not be underestimating either of their potential opponents.
The reality is simply that any team that gets to this stage is going to be a formidable one, capable of getting results on the biggest stage.

But at the same time, PSV’s triumph over Juventus was undeniably more impressive than Feyenoord’s over Milan.
In Milan’s case, they had looked to be on course to knock Feyenoord out in the second leg this week. They had multiple good chances in the first half which they dominated.
However, a needless red card for Rossoneri defender Theo Hernandez shifted the momentum of that match.
On the other hand, PSV genuinely outplayed Juventus in the second leg of their own round of sixteen tie.
Inter had lost to the Bianconeri themselves just last weekend. And so PSV’s display on Wednesday will be a clear warning sign.
Then, there is the fact that Feyenoord are dealing with a raft of injuries.
Most notably, captain Quinten Timber will miss the rest of the season. That is certainly a big blow.
But throughout the Rotterdam team’s squad, there are doubts and injuries. Particularly after selling star striker Santiago Gimenez to AC Milan.
Lastly, the Gazzetta note, Inter would also be avoiding a path that could see them face Real Madrid before the final if they draw Feyenoord.
