AC Milan director Geoffrey Moncada has confirmed the club are prepared to sell left-back Theo Hernandez this summer if he does not extend his contract.
Theo is in the final 18 months of his current deal and talks over an extension have stalled, with reports claiming the two parties are far apart when it comes to the finances on offer.
Serie A newcomers Como offered around €40m to sign Theo in January and Milan were prepared to accept the offer, but the 27-year-old rejected the move and instead chose to see out the season with the Rossoneri.
However, if he does not re-sign before the summer, Theo will once again be made available for transfer.
"The important thing is to control the players, we cannot lose a player on an expiring contract," Moncada told DAZN. "Never.
"This also applies to Theo and [Mike] Maignan."
Theo was hailed as one of the world's best left-backs just a few years ago and his potential availability has attracted interest from a number of elite sides. Manchester City are known admirers and Real Madrid have been tipped to join the race for Theo's signature after missing out on a deal for top target Alphonso Davies of Bayern Munich.
The France international spent two years on the books at Madrid between 2017 and 2019 after a £23m move from Atletico Madrid, but he was used in a reserve role across his debut season and sold to Milan following a loan with Real Sociedad.
