FC Bayern beat Eintracht Frankfurt 4-0 on Sunday to restore their eight-point lead in the Bundesliga. Munich were dominant in the first half and took the lead when Michael Olise netted just before the break. Hiroki Ito scored his maiden goal for Bayern when he doubled the advantage after the restart, with Jamal Musiala and Serge Gnabry adding gloss to the scoreline in Bayern's 10th consecutive home victory in the Bundesliga.

The Bavarians started with Manuel Neuer in goal and Konrad Laimer, Eric Dier, Minjae Kim and Ito in a back four. Aleksandar Pavlović and Joshua Kimmich anchored a midfield featuring Olise, Jamal Musiala and Leroy Sané, with Thomas Müller up front. Kimmich had to be replaced late in the first half, Leon Goretzka taking over. Alphonso Davies, Harry Kane, Kingsley Coman and Gnabry came on for Ito, Müller, Olise and Musiala in the second half.

Olise on target

It was a balanced quarter-hour before Bayern asserted their authority. Hugo Ekitiké fired wide, before Müller saw a shot blocked and Olise put the rebound wide. Musiala's then had an effort cleared off the line after a cutback by Sané, and Kevin Trapp also denied Olise.

A Sané effort was blocked and Trapp parried against Müller's long-range effort. A Müller pass only just evaded the sliding Musiala before Neuer denied Can Uzun at the other end, but Bayern took a deserved lead when Sané's square invited Olise to tap in. Neuer saved again from Uzun as Bayern went into half-time one up.

Maintaining advantage

Neuer denied Nnamdi Collins and a Sané effort was blocked after the restart, but Bayern doubled their advantage on the hour when Trapp missed a corner, with Ito on hand to capitalise on the mix-up in the box. Musiala fired wide from distance before Sané won the ball in Frankfurt's half but fired wide.

Munich banished any last lingering doubts when Musiala slalomed his way through the opposition half. He looked to have been dispossessed on the edge of the box but won the ball back and beat Trapp. Kane saw a shot saved after his introduction, before Gnabry rounded off the final scoreline when he beat Trapp from a tight angle in added time.

The victory takes Bayern onto 58 points from 23 matches, eight clear of Bayer Leverkusen. The Bavarians will be back in action on Friday when they travel to face VfB Stuttgart in the Bundesliga.
