Manchester United lose to Nottingham Forest

Scorers: Hojlund 18', Fernandes 62' ; Milenkovic 2', Gibbs-White 47', Wood 53'

Nottingham Forest got off to a perfect start as Nikola Milenkovic rose highest to nod home from his side's first corner, his first goal for the club putting the visitors ahead inside two minutes.

Amorim's side pushed for an equaliser, as Rasmus Hojlund and Bruno Fernandes had efforts without testing Sels.

But they continued to probe, and after Alejandro Garnacho saw an effort spilled by Sels, Hojlund pounced to level the game.

Forest remained a threat from set pieces, and Jota Silva saw his header rebound off the crossbar as they looked to retake their lead before half time.

At the other end, Bruno Fernandes struck the woodwork from a free kick as the two sides headed into the break level.

However, that parity didn't last long as Forest started fast once more in the second half. Just two minutes in, a Morgan Gibbs-White strike wrongfooted Andre Onana, leaving the Manchester United goalkeeper diving the wrong was as the ball went down the middle of his goal.

And United's second half went from bad to worse minutes later as a Gibbs-White cross was nodded back across goal by Chris Wood, while Lisandro Martinez bizarrely let it run across him and into the far corner.

Manchester United were on the ropes, but were handed a lifeline just after the hour mark as Bruno Fernandes pulled one back from the edge of the penalty area.

As Forest looked to hold onto a massive three points, United saw plenty of the ball but created little with it, despite Amorim throwing on Mason Mount and Joshua Zirkzee.

In stoppage time, Lisandro Martinez fired over from a corner, but Forest held on for all three points to move up to fifth, and hand Amorim his first home defeat.

10-man City stumble again

Scorers: Muñoz 4', Lacroix 57'; Haaland 30', Lewis 68'

Manchester City dropped more points in their quest to get back into Premier League title contention, battling to a 2-2 draw with Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park.

They had to twice come from behind to do so, with Palace taking the lead for first time inside just four minutes through Daniel Muñoz, as Manchester City's revival looked to be short-lived.

Will Hughes was the architect, playing a wonderful ball through for the Colombian to run onto, and finish past Stefan Ortega.

City continued to look shaky at the back, but almost found a way back into the game in the 24th minute, İlkay Gündoğan hitting the post with a low left-footed effort from just outside the box.

Erling Haaland grabbed an equaliser on the half hour mark, heading in a Matheus Nunes cross. Dean Henderson made a mess coming out to claim it, and the Norwegian got his head to the ball first.

Despite City being in control, they went behind again just before the hour. Will Hughes was again the provider, whipping a corner in for an unmarked Maxence Lacroix to head home.

City equalised for a second time with 22 minutes remaining. After some neat build up play around the box, the ball came to Rico Lewis, and the youngster scored with a fine finish.

Lewis was then sent off for a very questionable second yellow card with five minutes to go.

Bees keep buzzing with yet another home win

Scorers: Mbeumo 8', Wissa 28', Collins 56'; Isak 11', Barnes 32'

Brentford continued their stunning home form, and run of classic encounters, with a 4-2 win against Newcastle at the Gtech Community Stadium.

who have the best home record in the league so far this season, took the lead after just eight minutes.

Christian Norgaard played a lovely ball to Bryan Mbuemo, and he did brilliantly to fashion an opening and curl it past Nick Pope.

Their lead barely lasted as Newcastle responded through their main man, Alexander Isak, who followed up his screamer against Liverpool with a real poacher's finish. He connected with Jacob Murphy's cross-cum-shot, heading it in from close range.

Brentford retook the lead in the 28th minute with another great goal, this time from Yoane Wissa, who gave Pope no chance from just outside the box.

Again, though, they couldn't hold the lead, Harvey Barnes levelling things up again for Newcastle. He was given too much time in the box, and stuck one in the bottom corner.

The frantic pace continued in the second half, with Yoane Wissa hitting the post, before Nathan Collins gave the Bees the lead for a third time in the 56th minute.

Newcastle pushed for a late equaliser, with Sandro Tonali coming the closest. He beat Collins to the ball but put his header wide when he might have done better.

They were left ruing their missed chances when Kevin Schade sealed the points for the Bees in the final minute.

Durán does the job for Villa

Scorers: Durán 24'

Aston Villa made it two wins in a row with a narrow 1-0 win over Southampton at Villa Park.

With conditions very tough at Villa Park, neither side had a shot on target in the opening 20 minutes, but Southampton had the better of it, keeping the ball well.

The home side took the lead in the 24th minute through Jhon Durán, who held off two defenders and finished well for his fifth goal of the season.

Into the second half, Southampton stayed in the game but struggled to create any chances.

Villa held out to move into fifth place in the league.
