Mary Fowler believes Manchester City’s supporters can have a huge say in the outcome of Friday’s clash with Tottenham Hotspur at the Etihad Stadium.

Gareth Taylor’s side, top of the table and still unbeaten in all competitions this season, face Spurs in the Barclays Women’s Super League on Friday 8 November at 19:30 (UK).

Our most recent WSL clash at the Etihad came back in March 2024, with the Blues cruising to a 3-1 win over Manchester United in a thrilling atmosphere.

Australia international Fowler was part of the City team that day and once again believes the home crowd will play a crucial role against the Lilywhites.

“I really do think the fans are going to be massive. Every game, whenever we can hear the fans, it does push us a lot,” the forward explained.

“When we go out to games and see that many people there it motivates us even more to want to win.

“I think the atmosphere we get at our own stadium is really nice. I really like playing there because it feels a lot more closed in.

“But at the same time, being able to play at the Etihad is just a different feeling. It feels like a much bigger game when you play there, so I’m looking forward to that too.”

Over 40,000 supporters witnessed that 3-1 triumph in the Manchester derby earlier this year, with a Jess Park brace and record-breaking Khadija ‘Bunny’ Shaw effort retaining local bragging rights having also beaten our rivals at Old Trafford by the same scoreline in November 2023.

Just over 12 months prior and an astonishing 44,259 were on the terraces – the biggest crowd in our women’s team’s professional history – as we once again did battle with United in December 2022.

With a record attendance also set at the Joie Stadium in October’s statement 2-0 win over European champions Barcelona, Fowler insists the WSL, and City, are leading the charge when it comes to growing the women’s game.

She added: “We’re excited, I think it’s really cool to be able to play at the Etihad.

“It says everything, we wouldn’t be playing at the big stadiums if we weren’t getting more people to come and watch.

“I think that’s been really lovely to see. Also, me being back from Australia and seeing the growth there, it’s so nice to be part of a league where there’s so much growth going on here as well.”

Tickets for City’s WSL showdown with Tottenham Hotspur are available from just £15 for adults and £5 for Under-16s. Visit mancity.com and the Official Man City App for more information.

Additionally, supporters can also secure their seat for further WSL Etihad clashes against Manchester United (17/18/19 January) and Chelsea (21/22/23 March) through the Hat-Trick Pack at a price of £40 for adults and £12 for U16s.
