Pep Guardiola says he’s fully focused on helping City hit the heights once again.

The Blues have enjoyed an incredible time under the Catalan, collecting 18 trophies.

By winning the Premier League last time out, City became the first men’s team in the history of English football to clock up four top-flight titles in a row.

And the previous campaign saw the boss lead City to the Treble of Premier League, Champions League and FA Cup in what was the greatest season in our history.

Under Guardiola’s stewardship, City also became the first team in Premier League history to manage 100 points in a single season in 2017/18 and the first in English football to win all four domestic trophies in 2018/19.

The manager accepts this season has been tough in comparison with past exploits.

But he’s now laser focused on qualification for the Champions League and success in the FA Cup before turning his attentions to the 2025/26 campaign, which starts in earnest with the FIFA Club World Cup in June.

“What’s important is the last 15/20 years, the club has been there all the time and the club is committed to continue being up there as long as possible,” he told press in his media briefing.

“That’s what I’m concerned about. And I want to work with the club and the players to get back.

“We have incredible things ahead of us. The season is still there, the last part, two months.

“We will finish with the Premier League and the FA Cup and after that we start the new season with the World Cup.

“So we finish these two competitions and the season will be over here and we refresh a few weeks and then we go to the World Cup to start the next season. This is the target I have.”

Despite his desire to get City firing again, Guardiola was open and honest when giving his verdict on the 2024/25 campaign to date.

“It would be nice to be at the FA Cup final and win it and qualify for the Champions League but the season has been poor and that’s not going to change,” he added.

“This is the reality. It’s not going to change for the fact we win one title. We will be happy. Of course, we want to do it. We have one more.

“But how we behave all of us this season, that’s not going to change. The season has not been good.”
