Simone Inzaghi warns Inter will face ‘a very difficult match’ against on-form Fiorentina, who won their last seven Serie A games. ‘A lot depends on the way that we approach it.’

It kicks off at the Stadio Artemio Franchi on Sunday at 17.00 GMT.

These two teams are one of the group huddled together just one point off leaders Napoli, so it is a head-to-head for second place.

The Viola are on spectacular form at the moment, winning their last seven Serie A games in a row and also victorious in the Conference League on Thursday against Pafos.

“It will be a very difficult match and a lot depends on the way that we approach it,” said Inzaghi on Inter TV, an interview he gave rather than schedule a press conference.

“We know they have won their last seven Serie A matches, so without doubt we are up against a tough opponent.”

Inter’s form is nothing to be sniffed at either, amassing 10 victories and two draws over the last two months, and on the verge of Champions League qualification directly for the Round of 16.

“We’ve been working well since July 13 and we’re happy with the results over the last two months, but we know that tomorrow will be really difficult.”

Inzaghi is forced to reshuffle in defence, because Benjamin Pavard, Francesco Acerbi and Carlos Augusto have not made the trip to Florence.

“Squad rotation is not a limitation, but something to be used effectively so that all the players give their contribution. We’re missing a few tomorrow, but will go there looking for maximum points.”

Inter had been leaking goals at the start of the season and still have some outliers like the 4-4 thriller with Juventus, but have for the most part been solid with seven clean sheets in the last nine games.

“We are working on both attacking and defensive phases, the whole team is working together well. The objective is always to improve together,” continued Inzaghi.

“Both we and Fiorentina played in Europe midweek, so we are in a similar situation and we need a great Inter performance. The key is taking it one game at a time, we’ve got to focus entirely on every single match, trying to be ready every time.”
