The Foxes travel to The Joie Stadium in a bid to cause an upset and qualify for the quarter-finals.
Leicester City lost 4-1 at Everton last weekend and manager Miquel says that her side must primarily aim to do more against a tough opponent in Manchester City on Sunday.
“I don’t know if there’s an ideal situation to beat them,” Miquel said when discussing her side’s latest opponents in the pre-match press conference. “It’s true that we have more depth than when we played them last time but it’s second phase, a different moment; we have changed a little and they have changed also.
“Our first intention is to show something more than we did [against Everton] last weekend. Regardless of how the game goes, I want the players to fight and to feel like they have no regrets when they come off the pitch.”
Injuries in the attacking areas have made goalscoring difficult for Leicester City. The Foxes have strengthened in that area in the transfer window and players have returned to fitness but Miquel still doesn’t feel as though her side have the right balance between attack and defence.
She said “It’s true that we have been more of a threat offensively than in the first phase. We’ve got better offensively but it’s still not working every weekend. I don’t feel like we have that balance yet of being able to attack more without getting punished behind. We will try to do our best to find that balance this weekend but I think that the defensive aspect will come first against this opponent.”
Leicester City are potentially just 90 minutes away from the Adobe Women’s FA Cup quarter-finals but Miquel says that victory would be equally as special in any game.
She said “It would be like any other victory, any [good] performance would make me happy. I would be just as happy to beat Aston Villa the weekend after.
“As I have said previously, we don’t pick games [to win] and there are not games that I want to win more than others. The more we can win, the better but we will just make sure that we have the right attitude and mental aspects in place.”
Leicester City’s Adobe Women’s FA Cup fifth round tie at Manchester City kicks-off at 2pm on Sunday afternoon.
