The winter transfer window has closed, and Alexander Isak will remain at Newcastle United for now. Although there was little expectation of him leaving this winter, it’s clear that clubs will be eyeing a potential move for him in the summer.
In response, the Magpies are working on a contract extension to keep Isak at St. James’ Park for the long term.
PSG manager Luis Enrique is reportedly keen on Isak, with Fichajes noting his interest. The Swedish striker has impressed with his pace, technical ability, and finishing, qualities that align with the attacking style Enrique aims to implement in Paris.
On the other hand, FootballTransfers has shared that while Arsenal are also fans of Isak, Liverpool are reportedly the most determined suitors and currently lead the race for his signature.

The Mirror noted in their piece when looking ahead to the summer transfer window that if Newcastle secure a spot in the UEFA Champions League next season, it could also help their chances of convincing their No. 9 to stay put.
“Newcastle must surely qualify for the Champions League if they are to keep a hold of the Sweden star who is enjoying a magnificent campaign,” the English media outlet stated. “Arsenal have been keen and Mikel Arteta may well see him as his ideal No.9.
“The Toon are yet to tie him down to a new deal, having elected to sort out Anthony Gordon’s contract this year, with PSR issues believed to mean Isak has to wait until the next set of accounts. If the Magpies fall short of the top four (or likely five) and don’t claim a spot at European football’s top table next term, expect Isak to be off.”
Former Newcastle star Alan Shearer believes Isak’s value could exceed £150 million thanks to his outstanding form. Shearer also thinks that Chelsea might have an edge over Arsenal in the race to sign him but warns the Blues to tread carefully, as his price could keep climbing.
