Jonathan David (25) has confirmed that he will leave Lille OSC upon the expiry of his contract at the end of the current season.

“Every story has a beginning and an end,” began the video that announced David’s departure from Lille. “I wanted to tell you myself that, after many years at the club, it is time for me to say goodbye,” continued the announcement, posted on Instagram.

The announcement had been expected. Despite David leaving the possibility of a contract renewal open publicly, he has been set on a departure from LOSC. The Canadian, who will soon be a free agent, is the subject of interest from clubs around Europe. The latest to show strong interest is Napoli, according to Fabrizio Romano. The Italian journalist understands that talks are advanced.

David leaves LOSC five years after joining from KAA Gent for a €27m fee. Over the course of his stay at the French club, he has won a Ligue 1 title, whilst he has also netted 109 times in 231 games. This season, he has 25 goals in 48 games in all competitions. His last game for Les Dogues will be against Stade de Reims on Saturday.
