Aston Villa entertained Paris Saint-Germain at Villa Park earlier tonight as they hoped to overturn a 3-1 deficit from the first leg of their UEFA Champions League quarterfinal tie. The Villans made a slow start to the game and conceded the opening goal in the 11th minute when Achraf Hakimi found the back of the net. Nuno Mendes doubled PSG’s advantage in the 27th minute but Youri Tielemans got a goal back for the home side just seven minutes later. Unai Emery’s men went into the half-time break 2-1 down on the scoreline.
John McGinn equalised for Aston Villa in the 55th minute before Ezri Konsa gave them the lead just a couple of minutes later. The Villans tried their best to score the fourth goal which would have taken the match to extra-time. However, PSG stood strong as the West Midlands club secured a hard-fought 3-2 win on the night. However, Aston Villa got knocked out of the Champions League after losing the tie 5-4 on aggregate.
