Cole Palmer joined a very small company of Premier League players after scoring four goals in one half of football this weekend.

The Chelsea star stunned Brighton at Stamford Bridge on Saturday when he found the net four times in a crazy 20-minute period of the first half.

The haul saw the 22-year-old set a new Premier League record, becoming the first player to score four goals before halftime in a match.

Only four other players have managed to score as many top-flight goals in a single half since the breakaway in 1992.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was the first to do so in February 1999 when he scored four late goals for Manchester United against Nottingham Forest. Remarkably, he did so as a second-half substitute after coming off the bench in the 71st minute.

It would be another decade before anyone matched that feat. Indeed, Jermain Defoe surpassed, becoming the only player in Premier League history to score five goals in a single half when Spurs demolished Wigan 9-1 in 2009.

Sergio Aguero blitzed Newcastle United in 2015 when he put five past the Magpies for Manchester City, with four of his goals coming in an manic 13-minute spell in the second half. The Argentine repeated the feat three years later with four second-half goals against Leicester City.
