Manchester United forward Amad has won the club’s Goal of the Season award for his fantastic strike against cross-town rivals Manchester City.

Amad has been one of the very few positives for United during what has proven to be an extremely disappointing 2024/25 season.

The Ivorian has struck 10 goals this season to go with the nine assists he has also supplied to his teammates. It’s worth noting that he missed a huge chunk of the campaign with an injury that almost ruled him out entirely.

In December, United came back from behind to beat City at the Etihad. Ruben Amorim’s men were the better team but City took the lead just before the break through Josko Gvardiol.

It seemed like the Red Devils were headed for a defeat but Amad had other ideas. He won a penalty that was converted by skipper Bruno Fernandes in the 88th minute to restore parity.

Amad then grabbed the winner two minutes later, getting on the end of a sublime ball from Lisandro Martinez before brilliantly rounding Ederson and tucking the ball into the back of the net.

It was this winning strike that has earned Amad United’s Goal of the Season prize.

The 22-year-old is the 15th winner of the award since it was established in 2005/06. He succeeds Alejandro Garnacho, who won it last year with his overhead kick against Everton.

Cristiano Ronaldo and Wayne Rooney are the only players to have won the award multiple times, each claiming first place on three occasions.

In this year’s poll, Mason Mount secured second place behind Amad, thanks to his stunning long-range strike in the recent 4-1 Europa League win against Athletic Club.

Kobbie Mainoo finished third following his late equaliser in the dramatic comeback over Lyon in the quarter-finals of the Europa League.

Hopefully, this is just the first of many for Amad.
