“We are a bit far from the top teams” – Chelsea player admits Blues have some way to go yet | OneFootball

One Chelsea player has admitted that he still feels that he and his team mates are still a bit far from the top teams around the globe yet.

The Blues are enjoying a good period in the league right now, getting some good results and putting in some better performances compared to last season. They are currently sitting joint third in the Premier League as a result after beating Leicester City 2-1 away from home in the Saturday lunchtime kick off at the weekend.

Enzo Maresca has come in and has looked very good. He has the players on side and there looks to be a bit more belief, confidence, and dare I say it, maturity about this squad overall this season.

They have a long way to go of course and it is early doors in the season still, but Chelsea have got many pundits believing in them again and they are getting a lot of praise right now.

Blues left back Marc Cucurella is staying optimistically cautious, and I like that to be honest. I think that is realistic of where we are at right now.

The Spanish international knows there is a lot of hard work to do between now and the end of the season if we want to stay where we are in the league and finish in the top four.

‘We knew that if we won at Leicester we could put pressure on our rivals and we did. We showed that we are ready to compete for the top four,’ Cucurella said to the Chelsea website this week.

‘In my opinion that is the target this season, but we know this league is tough. We came from a difficult year and now we need to trust the process. We know everything we want to do.

‘For sure we are here to win titles, but I think right now we are a bit far from the top teams. They have worked together with the same manager and ideas for a long time. We started a few months ago this season.

‘We want to compete with all of them for sure, but it’s difficult, you can’t change all that overnight. But we are in a good way, we need to be proud of ourselves and keep going and not relax, because we have the talent but we need the consistency to stay in these places.’
