Manchester City do appear to have several players whose futures appear to lie away from the club, which needs to be resolved before the transfer window closes. One of those players is Joao Cancelo. But as it stands currently the Manchester City full-back is running out of options as to where he could play next season.

At his best, Joao Cancelo can be one of the best-attacking full-backs in the game. There are attacking players in the game who aren’t blessed with the technical ability that Cancelo possesses. But despite this, the Portuguese international has bounced from club to club during his career. That issue appears to be of his own making. A new report indicates that similar issues that have plagued Cancelo at Manchester City and throughout his career have resurfaced.

A report from Tamara Prenn for the Daily Mail indicates that Barcelona won’t be making a move for Cancelo this summer. Prenn’s report suggests that Cancelo’s high wage demands have put Barcelona off from making a move for the Manchester City full-back. Furthermore, Prenn goes on to report that Barcelona also have concerns about Cancelo’s attitude in the dressing room.

Something has to give if Cancelo is to find a move this summer. He is fast running out of options. It appears highly unlikely that he will be a part of Manchester City’s squad this season. That ship looks have well and truly sailed. The fact he has now had consecutive loan spells at Bayern Munich and Barcelona makes that an obvious conclusion to reach.

There could be a lifeline on the horizon for Cancelo’s career. CaughtOffside has relayed a report from SportZone that Al Hilal have an interest in signing Cancelo. That may be Cancelo’s only option to secure a move away from Manchester City this summer. It could also be the ideal move for both him and the world champions. If City can sell Cancelo and he settles for a move to the Saudi Pro League it would end the annual saga that surrounds his future.

Sadly it appears that Joao Cancelo is running out of options as to where he could play next season. Given his talent it is a sad situation for the Manchester City full-back. The champions will be hoping to secure a permanent move for the Portuguese international this summer. Based on the available evidence Al Hilal could be the ideal option for the champions to offload Cancelo. However, that would entirely depend on what Cancelo wants to do this summer.
