‘A liability’ – Barcelona star singled out for heavy criticism during Girona clash | OneFootball

A leading member of the defensive ranks at La Liga giants Barcelona has on Sunday evening come in for some altogether heavy criticism.

This comes owing to his efforts during the club’s latest outing.

Barcelona are of course currently locked in action, in a derby meeting with Catalan rivals Girona at Montjuïc.

As things stand, Hansi Flick’s troops find themselves headed towards another three-point haul, leading Girona by two goals to one.

As alluded to above, though, despite their side’s advantage when it comes to the scoreline, the Blaugrana faithful have nevertheless been quick to make clear their frustrations with one player.

Ronald Araújo was restored to Barca’s XI this evening, joining Iñigo Martínez at the heart of defence.

The Uruguayan, amid something of a hit-and-miss all-round showing, however, found himself at least partly to blame for allowing Girona back into the game.

Early in the 2nd-half, his loose pass into midfield was picked off, opening the door for the visitors to break in behind and find the net.

And those of a Blaugrana persuasion made full use of the opportunity to make their grievances with Araújo known, with many having gone as far as to label the stopper a ‘liability’.
