Very disappointed by the circumstances and the result of the match, the Monegasque coach tried to deliver his analysis in a post-match press conference, following the team's defeat in Nice (2-1).

A frustrating defeat. Reduced to ten men before half-time in the Derby against OGC Nice, the AS Monaco players would concede in the second half at the Allianz Riviera (2-1). It was a result and with it the facts of the match, which Adi Hütter wanted to discuss with the media at the end of the game. 🎙️

Good evening Adi Hütter. We can imagine that disappointment dominates this evening…

I am not happy with the result obviously. When you lose the Derby, everyone feels sad, that’s for sure. But we are guilty of this defeat, because we had the match in our hands. We did two stupid things that took us out of the match, and in the second half, with us a man down, Nice took advantage to take the lead.

We get too many red cards, that's for sure! What I see is that we were clearly the better team on the pitch eleven against eleven. Then we make a stupid foul, which leads to the free kick for the goal. Then Vanderson has a disproportionate reaction.

What did you think of this latest sending off after Lille?

We receive too many red cards, that’s for sure! What I see is that we were clearly the best team on the pitch with eleven against eleven in the first half. We had two or three clear chances, without managing to score. Then we made a stupid foul, which led to the free kick.

Then Vanderson received a red card after a disproportionate reaction. We are very disappointed for our supporters, who were still numerous this evening to support us. I am just surprised that the rules change sometimes, we do not always know if there is handball or not, and on the play at the start of the match, it is a penalty for me. Despite everything, we must respect these decisions.

Do you think the decisions influenced the result of the match?

I don’t want to talk about the refereeing decisions here, nor the discussions I had with the referee. I repeat, we are primarily guilty of this defeat, not him. My speech at half-time? I didn’t react at all to the expulsion, on the contrary I tell my players to refocus on the match.

We will have time to talk again and analyze everything that happened. But half-time is clearly not the time to come back to that. At this moment, the discussion is mainly between the technical staff to make the best decision. With emotions, it is not a good thing to react in the heat of the moment, I know that from experience.

In my opinion, AS Monaco were clearly the better team with equal numbers once again. Then we did two stupid things that put us in difficulty. Radeck Majecki made some very important saves before the second goal. We win together, and we lose together! We have to accept it, even if we are very disappointed, for us, for our supporters, and for the whole Club!
