Three games in a six day stretch and what a contribution from Alexander Isak.
Starting all three matches, scoring in all three.
Saturday arguably (easily?) the most important, that wonderful header seeing United take all three points in the win over Arsenal.
As well as scoring in all of his last three games in all competitions, Alexander Isak has now been directly involved in 18 goals in his last 17 Premier League starts at St. James’ Park, in terms of goals and assists.
Form is temporary but class is permanent.
That is Alexander Isak and having had that broken toe to also deal with this season, to then still manage seven goals and one assist in 12 games for club and country so far, is pretty good going.
Alexander Isak reflects on Saturday’s defeat of Arsenal:
“That was massive.
“Against a big team.
“It means a lot to the fans that we can win this game.”
Alexander Isak on the winning goal:
“The cross was amazing [from Anthony Gordon].
“I just had to jump and put my head on the ball.
“So credit to him.
“Arsenal have a strong defence and so it is a difficult task but I’m happy we could score today and keep a clean sheet.
“We have had a bad spell [of Premier League results] but hopefully this win can be a bit of an icebreaker for us.”
Alexander Isak asked about scoring 12 goals in his last 12 Premier League games at St James’ Park:
“It’s special of course, our fans are amazing every game, win or lose.
“So it gives you an extra boost.
“I have been successful here, so hopefully I can keep going.”
What an absolutely splendid Alexander Isak finish.
Watch that goal from all the different angles below as TNT Sports give the goal full respect.
