Jude Bellingham has been shown a straight red card during Real Madrid's clash away at Osasuna in LaLiga action.
According to The Athletic, the Englishman was already frustrated by being denied what he claimed were two penalties in the opening period of the match, with away supporters shouting "corruption in the federation" in the stands.
Carlo Ancelotti's side found the breakthrough before half-time with a strike from Kylian Mbappé, but shortly afterwards Bellingham was caught on camera saying something to the referee, which provoked the official to show a straight red card.
After the match, Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti was unhappy with the performance of the referee and said "Red card? I think the referee was nervous.
"Bellingham said 'if that's a foul then that was a penalty, f*ck off', Bellingham didn't do anything to deserve a red card. The referee didn't understand English."
Also speaking to the press after the game, Bellingham shed more light on the situation. “It’s clear that I said it when I’ve already turned away," the England international revealed. "It’s difficult when he says it’s an insult when I haven’t insulted him.”
The 21-year-old has had a comparatively difficult second season in LaLiga, having scored just seven times in 19 appearances for the club, as opposed to 19 goals in 27 games in 2023/24.
