Het Nieuwsblad are reporting that Anderlecht are on the verge of completing their first signing of the winter transfer window. 24-year-old Mexican winger Cesar Huerta has reportedly already said farewell to teammates and is on his way to Belgium to compete a medical ahead of joining the Brussels based side. His current side Pumas UNAM had hoped that they could loan the player with a purchase option. However, with his contract running down at the end of the current season, the prospect of agreeing a new deal to make this happen were too slim.

Heurta began his career with Chivas, but only made 33 appearances before leaving to join Pumas in the summer of 2022. He spent most of his time with Chivas out on loan at a number of sides in Mexico. Since joining Pumas, the winger has gone on to score 20 goals in 87 games. Last season, Huerta scored 12 goals and grabbed 10 assists. So far this season he has played 21 games for the side, with six goals and four assists. While usually deployed as a wide man, Heurta can also play as a second striker. Anderlecht are certainly in need of options in both positions with so many injuries to key players.
