Ligue 1 side Angers SCO have announced the dismissal of French centre-forward Loïs Diony (32). L’Equipe reports that the former Dijon and Saint-Etienne striker is suspected of a betting breach. The outlet understands that Diony has been summoned by Ligue de Football Professionnel on February 5 because Ligue 1’s governing body suspects Diony to have placed a bet on a football game he took part, which is obviously forbidden. L’Equipe adds that Diony bet on his Angers time to win or draw against Paris FC last season. The Parisian Ligue 2 side eventually beat the Anjou side 3-1.

Angers SCO inform having received this day Mr. Loïs Diony, to whom a formal notice was given”, Angers’ statement reads. “The player is subject to dismissal and will be summoned soon for an exchange with club management. No other communication will be made on this subject.” Diony has been sidelined by Angers since August as he refuses to leave the Anjou side. He has been playing with the reserves since. Diony is out of contract next June.
