The Italian champions are on the lookout for a young central defender who can play on the left side. And as it happens, Palacios ticks all the boxes.

Therefore, the Serie A giants have accelerated their attempts to swiftly reach the finish line.

According to Ole via FcInterNews, the Argentina U20 starlet is one step away from signing for the Nerazzurri.

As the source explains, the deal will ensue next week following this weekend’s clash between Palacios’ parent club Talleres and his current club Independiente Rivadavia.

The young defender is on loan at Independiente until the end of the year. However, the club has the option to buy 50% of his contract for 2 million euros.

Therefore, Independiente could exercise their option in order to collect their share from the player’s sale to Inter.

Argentine journalist Juan Andres Tuzzi (via FcInterNews) also claims that Palacios’ transfer to Inter is now imminent.

He believes the defender will be dropped out of the weekend encounter while he waits for a call from Italy.

The source suggests the operation could cost the Nerazzurri circa 5 million euros.

Inter Milan Closing In On Young Argentine Defender Tomas Palacios

For his part, Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio insists the deal could be a complicated one due to the player’s contractual status.

The transfer market guru explains that Talleres cannot sell the youngster unless they reach an agreement with Independiente to waive their option to buy.

The latter could also purchase 50% of the player’s contract and then Inter would have to negotiate with both clubs.

Hence, the Italian champions are still working on finding the right formula, reports Di Marzio.
