Arsenal have been offered hope of signing Leroy Sane after the Bayern Munich star changed representatives during contract negotiations with the Bavarian giants.

The former Manchester City winger is out of contract this summer and would be available on a free transfer, with Arsenal among the clubs to have expressed interest in signing him should he depart the Allianz Arena at the end of the current campaign.

However, Bayern have recently been in intense contract negotiations with Sane as they seek to extend his stay, with the 29-year-old having managed 13 goals and four assists for the Bundesliga champions this term.

According to journalist Florian Plettenberg, Bayern were close to reaching an agreement with Sane when represented by his former agent, with the German international set to sign a contract until 2028 at a reduced salary of €14-16m per year (previously €20m).

But Sane has since informed Die Roten that he's changed representatives, teaming up with Pini Zahavi. The forward's contract extension is no longer certain following this switch, with new terms potentially being negotiated.

That leaves the door somewhat ajar for Arsenal, especially if new contract talks are unsuccessful. The Gunners are seeking attacking reinforcements in wide areas and Sane would be someone capable of sharing minutes with Bukayo Saka.

Arsenal supporters must approach the situation with caution, however, as Bayern remain confident on striking an agreement, with club president Herbert Hainer insisting that Sane wants to continue in Bavaria.

"We've usually almost always reached an agreement with his new agent, Zahavi. I'm an optimist by nature," said Hainer. "Leroy has said often enough that he wants to stay."

Sane joined Bayern from Man City back in 2020 and has since made 218 appearances for the club. He added a fourth Bundesliga title to his collection at the weekend after Bayer Leverkusen's draw with Freiburg gifted Die Roten the crown.
