Aston Villa are expected to formally end Everton and Ipswich Town’s hopes of signing Jaden Philogene by finalising his capture today, according to The Athletic.

The winger is set to complete a move back to Villa Park, a year after he left to join Hull City last summer.

On Unai Emery’s insistence, Aston Villa triggered their right-to-match and decided to equal Ipswich Town’s £18m bid for Philogene, while Everton also made a £16m offer.

Philogene picked Aston Villa and, even though it has been suggested there could be a late twist, remains Villa Park bound.

It has been claimed that his move back to Villa is set to be sealed and finalised by the end of the day.

Philogene has already reached the club’s training base in the Midlands and will soon undergo a medical with Aston Villa.

Once the medical is out of the way, the winger will sign a long-term contract to rejoin the club.

Aston Villa are expecting to finalise all the paperwork for the return to Philogene by the end of the day.

They may be wary of a possible hijack and want to get the deal done and dusted.
