For many reasons, the Camp Nou has always been much more than a stadium for FC Barcelona. Even the Montjuic Stadium serves the purpose of being a place to play their games, but the Camp Nou was truly something special. For fans and individuals all across the globe, the identity of Barcelona was conveyed through that very same landmark.

Now, while the Catalan giants play on top of the mountain, their beloved Camp Nou continues to be rebuilt and restructured. With a modern touch now being added to its deep history and lineage, the hope of the club is to create a work of art that connects its already successful past to the hopeful future that is coming.

However, it is not even possible for Barcelona to think of its past without mentioning the great Lionel Messi. In many ways, the Argentinian icon is the greatest thing to ever happen to the prestigious Catalan club, and perhaps without his presence, they would never have reached the heights that they did.

Ultimately, that is what made his departure even sadder. Since then, the relationship between the current board at Barcelona and Lionel Messi has not been the greatest. Yet, if there is a chance at any redemption or forgiveness between the two, it may come aligned with the reopening of the Camp Nou or the celebrations for the club’s 125th anniversary by itself.

According to the information provided by Miguel Rico (h/t SPORT), Barcelona are currently considering the possibility of sending a letter to their club icon that will invite him to their celebrations for their long-awaited 125th anniversary in what is expected to be a grand ceremony of sorts.

However, even if the player is unable to directly make it in person, the club would hope to get him to record a video that can be displayed during the grand event. For now, however, there is no guarantee that either of those things end up happening but it reportedly is in the works.

As for the Camp Nou’s re-opening itself, the chance to do it alongside the club’s exact 125th-anniversary date will most likely not be possible. Given that the date in question is set to be the 29th of November this year makes it impossible for the new Camp Nou to be ready by then.

At the moment, returning to the stadium could take longer than expected, with January or February 2025 now looking like a more suitable and realistic target. Until then, Montjuïc Stadium will remain Barça’s home.
