Barcelona director responds to fresh Nico Williams questions | OneFootball

A member of the board at La Liga giants Barcelona was this evening asked for the latest on the club’s long-standing pursuit of Athletic Club star Nico Williams.

This, of course, comes with the summer-long transfer saga having last week been widely reported as having come to an end.

Though Barcelona remain as keen as ever to bring in the 22-year-old, Nico’s decision to take over the no.10 jersey in Bilbao was seen as a clear signal regarding his plans to stay put for the season ahead.

And yet, with two weeks to run in the transfer window, those behind the scenes at the Camp Nou continue to be bombarded with questions on the saga.

The latest came on Saturday evening, in the buildup to Barca’s season opener against Valencia.

Upon the arrival of the Blaugrana’s travelling party in the city ahead of the Mestalla showdown, Enric Masip was pulled in for a quick exchange with El Chiringuito TV.

Described by Mundo Deportivo as ‘advisor to President Joan Laporta , member of the presidential cabinet and a trusted man of the president,’ Masip was subsequently asked if there is still a chance that Barcelona could land Nico Williams.

The Spaniard, though, kept his cards close to his chest in responding:

“This is handled by the sporting management.”
