On Monday, Barcelona saw their attempt to secure the registrations of Dani Olmo and Pau Victor through a precautionary measure be denied by another court.

The Spanish duo were only registered until December 31 following the long-term injury of Andreas Christensen. And in order for them to be eligible to play in the second half of the season, they must be re-registered by midnight tonight.

With the judicial route not panning out, Barça have turned to the sale of the new Spotify Camp Nou VIP seat packages.

The Blaugrana are finalising the sale of €100 million worth of VIP seats at the future Spotify Camp Nou, a deal that would not only enable Olmo and Victor’s registrations but also help the club return to the 1:1 rule.

Everything in La Liga’s hands

As reported yesterday, La Liga has already received part of this ‘lever’ documentation from Barcelona for validation.

Now, according to Mundo Deportivo, La Liga has requested a copy of the contracts and proof that Barça have already received an advance payment for the deal to ensure that the operation will generate the expected income for the club.

The failure of the Barça Vision sale to the Libero investment fund remains fresh in the minds of the league executives, who do not wish to approve any registration for the Catalans unless they are fully guaranteed in terms of payment.

In fact, the club still faces a ‘Fair Play’ deficit due to the collapse of the Libero deal.

Within the club, there is clarity regarding the situation. They have stated that it now depends on whether the sale of the VIP seats will generate the necessary capital to register Olmo and Victor, and whether the operation can meet La Liga’s financial criteria.

There is cautious optimism at the club, even as time is running out. Although there is until the end of today, December 31, to complete the operation, Barcelona hope to have it settled at a reasonable hour to avoid disrupting end-of-year family gatherings.

Club sources have indicated that, so far, there have been no internal discussions about using a personal guarantee from the board in case the required amount to register Olmo and Víctor is not reached.

However, this option has not been completely ruled out if there are no other alternatives.
