FC Barcelona are coming off a memorable victory over Bayern Munich in the UEFA Champions League last night. Hansi Flick’s team secured a 4-1 win over the Bundesliga giants with a hattrick from Raphinha and a goal from Robert Lewandowski.

Despite the impressive form on-field, there are issues that the club is bound to be handled behind the scenes. Things like contract renewals are key aspects of running a club and it’s Deco’s responsibility to take initiative for it.

Many Barcelona players – Pedri, Gavi, Frenkie de Jong, and Ronald Araujo see their contracts with the club expire in 2026. When fit, all four names walk into the starting XI at the club and Deco will be keen to renegotiate longer deals with each one of them.

Now, as per Mundo Deportivo, Deco has met with Hector Peris, the agent of Pedri, Ferran Torres, and Noah Darvich to discuss the contractual situation of the €80m-rated midfield star among other topics of discussion.

Extending the contract of Pedri was the primary focus of the meeting, undoubtedly, but there were also sporting discussions about Darvich’s future following his impressive performances for the quarry team. The situation of Ferran Torres, whose contract expires in 2027 was also discussed.

Barcelona have been in talks for quite some time now with Pedri’s entourage and his performances so far this season have been incredible. The most important thing is that the 21-year-old has managed to stay fit after seasons of injury issues.

Renewing Pedri’s contract is a no-brainer. The Spanish midfield star embodies Barcelona’s footballing spirit better than anyone else, and even Hansi Flick has labeled him a ‘special’ player. Appointed as one of the club’s captains before this campaign, his renewal should only be a matter of time.

It is not just Pedri’s contract renewal that Deco must be focussing on. There are other players, as mentioned above, whose situations need to be addressed and let’s hope Barcelona can get all four players to sign new deals sometime soon.
