Although it did not result in a victory for FC Barcelona or end their poor run in La Liga, Pedri delivered a brilliant performance against Getafe in the game that finished with a 1-1 draw.

Beyond the stunning pass leading to Jules Kounde’s goal, the Spanish midfielder once again demonstrated that not only has he regained the level that once captivated the football world when he burst onto the elite scene, but he has surpassed it.

Pedri dazzled those present at Coliseum Alfonso Perez and was deservedly named the Man of the Match.

Gerard Pique in awe of Pedri

During the game, particularly after his pass that led to Kounde’s goal, Gerard Pique could not help but praise Pedri’s talent.

“Pedri is a scandal,” wrote the former Barcelona captain on ‘X’, a post that quickly went viral.

Pique, who continues to follow his former club closely despite focusing on his business ventures, commended the Tenerife-born midfielder for the magical pass which led to the Blaugrana’s only goal of the game against Getafe.

Pedri finished Saturday night’s match with 96 touches, 68 successful passes out of 79 attempts (86%), one cross, four long balls, two successful dribbles, and six duels won in 90 minutes.

Pedri unhappy with the result

Speaking after the match, Pedri insisted that Barcelona should have walked away with the win and needed to do more to make their chances count.

“I think that, in these games where you know that you will have few chances, if you don’t score the ones you do have, it’s difficult to win. We should have kept the lead at 0-1 and we didn’t,” he said.

Specifically on his pass leading up to Kounde’s goal, he added: “I think that when it doesn’t help you win, I’m not happy.”
