Manchester United will hope to see a much-improved Marcus Rashford this season after a horrendous campaign both on and off the pitch last time out.

The Mancunian was close to being moved on this summer after his misdemeanors strained his relationship with manager Erik ten Hag.

He was forced to have a clear-the-air talk with the Dutchman and the new co-owners in a bid to save his United career from imploding.

There was interest from Paris Saint-Germain but the Englishman’s torrid form coupled with United’s demands meant no team came forward with a concrete bid.

Rashford’s future

There was no way the academy graduate would be headed to Saudi Arabia at this stage of his career despite the amount being quoted by the media.

Barcelona were another club who were interested with new manager Hansi Flick requesting the club hierarchy to target the England international, who would be a gamechanger out on the left.

As per a report from Albert Fernandez of GOL, there has been no movement on that front with United opting to hold on to their asset.

“According to FCB sources, one of the names that Hansi Flick suggested for his only request (a left winger with goals and dribbling ability) was Marcus Rashford. I don’t know if there has been any movement,” he wrote on X (formerly Twitter).

Barca wanted Rashford

The Catalan giants’ precarious financial situation does not exactly scream confidence in their ability to splurge €60 million on Rashford, his current market value as per Transfermarkt.

United would have asked for a lot more if they were selling keeping in mind the player’s enormous potential and his current contract length,

The boyhood United fan has shown the willingness to work hard in the new campaign, unlike how he was performing last season, but his finishing has left a lot to be desired.

INEOS have decided to hold on to the 26-year-old but have made it clear that the forward must deliver this season or he risks being sold in the season to come.
