Barcelona miss out as summer transfer target heads to Liverpool | OneFootball

La Liga giants Barcelona have this weekend been dealt something of a blow on the transfer front.

This comes amid confirmation that Bayer Leverkusen star Jeremie Frimpong is all set for a move to England, with Liverpool.

Defender Frimpong has for his part long seen his name linked to that of Barcelona. Fresh off another fine campaign on the books of the aforementioned Bayer, the Dutch international is understood to have been earmarked as a leading transfer target on the part of Deco and the Camp Nou brass.

The Blaugrana are on the lookout for reinforcements at right-back with a view to next season, owing to a lack of depth behind first-choice Jules Koundé.

Amid their search for as much, though, the Catalans will be forced to look beyond the profile of Frimpong.

As per a report from transfer insider Fabrizio Romano:

‘Jeremie Frimpong set to join Liverpool, here we go! Agreement done for Dutch right back as Bayer Leverkusen are informed on €35m release clause being triggered.’
