The financial crisis at FC Barcelona needs no particular introduction for most people. By now, there is a general understanding that the club’s restrictions and limitations are rather taxing. Moreover, as a direct consequence, Barcelona have been struggling with other things as a result.

Beyond just finding a lot of difficulty in securing signings, the Catalan giants have also struggled when it comes to player registrations and new contract signings as well. Even right now, the club is facing some clear difficulties in that regard when it comes to the registrations of both Dani Olmo and Pau Victor, despite the club’s best attempts to keep the situation in control.

However, even the Barcelona court of First Instance 47 has recently rejected the club’s request for precautionary methods that would have allowed both players to be registered until the end of the season. The present judge, moreover, revealed the club’s salary limit and showcases just how dire the situation really is.

As highlighted by SPORT, the judge revealed that the club’s current salary cap is -€153 million. Beyond just being a significant thing to overturn, this currently negative salary cap is even worse than what the club’s situation was during the summer of 2024.

Reportedly, the actual figure at that point was -€81 million, and that in turn means that the club’s salary cap has worsened by another €72 million since then. Despite the initial hope of Barcelona that this issue would have been resolved by now or would have improved at least, the reality of things begs to differ.

Furthermore, the judge also made two things quite clear to the Catalan club in regards to their request. With all regulations being the same for all Spanish teams and the fact that Barcelona put themselves in this situation by signing a player who they knew would only be temporarily registered, he made it certain that the club knew that they created this mess for themselves.

Now, with the 31st December deadline looming over Barça’s head, there is essentially little to no time left. Until and unless the club manages to sort out the complete sale of the VIP seats that they are hoping to do now, the registrations of both Dani Olmo and Pau Victor look to be uncertain.
