Barcelona star sits out training amid transfer rumours | OneFootball

A veteran member of Hansi Flick’s Barcelona squad played no part in the club’s latest training session on Tuesday morning.

That’s according to Barca insider Gerard Romero, who points towards İlkay Gündoğan as the player in question.

The name of midfielder Gündoğan has of course dominated the headlines in Catalunya’s capital over the course of the last 24 hours.

This comes after word was forthcoming that the Germain international is set to depart Barcelona before the summer is out.

The player’s former club, in Manchester City, have since emerged as the leading candidates for his signature, with negotiations between the two parties understood to be ongoing.

In turn, it should not come as all that much of a surprise to hear that Gündoğan played no part in training alongside the rest of Hansi Flick’s squad on Tuesday.

As per a report from Gerard Romero:

‘Gündogan did NOT train with the group this morning, awaiting a resolution on his departure. According to SER, his agent is in Manchester advancing the deal to rejoin Pep Guardiola.’
