The new contract set to be signed by Barcelona star Ronald Araújo will feature a release clause set at a reduced fee.

That’s according to Mundo Deportivo, who have on Saturday provided an insight into the situation.

Defender Araújo has of course seen his name return to the forefront of the headlines in Catalunya’s capital over the course of recent days.

This comes after the Uruguayan, after weeks of speculation surrounding his future, finally made the definitive decision to stay put.

His loyalty, in turn, is set to be rewarded by way of a new contract.

And as alluded to above, on Saturday, an insight into some of the details of the deal in question have come to the fore online.

As per MD, Araújo’s new terms will, as expected, feature a considerable pay rise.

Even more noteworthy, though, is the fact that the defender, after taking into serious consideration seeking out a new challenge this month, will maintain at least some control over his future:

‘Barça’s proposal is to make available to the Uruguayan a ‘friendly’ clause by which next summer he can activate an exit if he is unhappy at Barça. In other words, a way for him to be able to decide his future.’
