Barcelona take note: Athletic Club star provides fresh update on Nico Williams | OneFootball

A leading member of the first-team ranks at La Liga outfit Athletic Club has on Wednesday spoken out on the future of teammate Nico Williams.

As much, of course, comes amid the long-standing speculation linking wide-man Nico with a move away from Bilbao, specifically to join Barcelona.

The 22-year-old has long been placed at the very top of the wishlist of those behind the scenes at the Camp Nou, amid their search for reinforcements on the wing.

To date, however, Deco and co. have been unable to tie their man down, amid hesitance on the part of Williams himself when it comes to departing Athletic.

Amid claims that the transfer is beginning to look increasingly unlikely to come to fruition before the summer is out, one of Nico’s teammates, on Wednesday, was in turn asked for the latest on the situation.

And, in his response, Gorka Guruzeta revealed his belief that, when all is said and done, the Spanish international will indeed stay put:

“Nico has shown that he is a world-class footballer,” Guruzeta began, during an interview with newspaper Deia, as cited by Diario Sport. “I hope he will help us out as he always does. It’s what we want and it’s what I think will happen.”
