Barcelona’s offices are pressed to close renewals in the coming months just considering the long list of players who are on the final two years of their contracts.

The administration is burning the midnight oil to ensure that they preserve as much talent as possible while also staying conservative on the salary front.

One such player whose future is partially uncertain is Robert Lewandowski who has been on fire this season but whose deal at Catalonia is nearing its end.

Renewal closed with one condition

The Polish star’s current contract with Barcelona stands until 2026 although he must hit certain milestones if the final year on that deal is to be activated.

However, SPORT relays that it can be taken for granted.

Currently guaranteed a place in Barcelona until next summer, Lewandowski’s one-year extension to 2026 is subject to him playing at least 55% of Barcelona’s games with at least 45 minutes played per game.

If he fails to meet that number, the Blaugrana can opt to terminate his contract unilaterally but the chance of that happening is very slim.

Given his run of form this season, it is highly unlikely that the striker will not meet the 55% requirement.

Moreover, the player sees continuity with good eyes and the management also believes he has what it takes to lead Barcelona in the final third for the next season, at least.

At 36 years of age, the veteran has already scored ten goals and provided two assists in La Liga and has an additional two goals to his name in the UEFA Champions League.

If he continues at the same rate, he may well enjoy a historic season and break the numbers from his first season at the club.
