Journalist Florian Plettenberg has revealed that Frenkie de Jong is likely to remain at Barcelona for the foreseeable future.

According to Plettenberg, there are no current plans for a transfer until the deadline day of the transfer window, and there have been no discussions with other clubs regarding a move.

This is because Hansi Flick, the new Barcelona manager, values de Jong highly and sees him as a key part of his plans for the team.

A lot has been said about de Jong’s future

Despite ongoing speculation about de Jong’s future at the club, largely due to Barcelona’s challenging financial situation, it appears that a transfer is not imminent.

There were reports suggesting that Barcelona might be willing to sell de Jong for a fee of around €60 million. This figure is notably lower than the amount the club was hoping to secure for him just a year or two ago.

Manchester United had been mentioned as a potential suitor for de Jong, but it seems they are no longer considering a move for him at this late stage. This leaves de Jong’s future at Barcelona looking more secure as the transfer window approaches its end.

De Jong is focused on recovery

For now, de Jong’s focus will be on his recovery from a series of injuries that have plagued him this summer. Barcelona have yet to set a specific return date for him, which is concerning given that he is one of the highest-paid players on the team.

The club and its supporters will be eager to see him back on the pitch, contributing to the squad as soon as possible.
