Some interesting comments from this BBC Sport pundit on Eddie Howe and Newcastle United.

Chris Sutton speaking ahead of Sunday afternoon at St James’ Park.

Eddie Howe and his Newcastle United players looking to make it eight wins in a row.

Twenty goals and seven great performances overwhelming Leicester, Brentford, Ipswich, Aston Villa, Man U, Spurs and Arsenal.

Bromley are now up next.

Chris Sutton talking to BBC Sport – 10 January 2025:

“It is a long way from Bromley to Newcastle but this is a great tie for them, even if they are going to end up being beaten.

“Newcastle have won seven in a row in all competitions now and while Isak and Anthony Gordon are understandably getting a lot of attention, I’ve been really impressed by Jacob Murphy.

“Eddie Howe will make lots of changes but I don’t see it making any difference.

“Prediction: Newcastle 3 Bromley 0”

I find it difficult to disagree with any of that from the BBC Sport pundit.

Whilst the likes of Isak and Botman are set to be given a shift off, Eddie Howe appears to have the luxury of now moving towards an almost fully available squad, with Pope, Lascelles and Wilson probably the only three who will be missing today due to injury.

It could even be an entire changed eleven BUT that could/would include the likes of Schar and Bruno who are coming back from suspension.

England internationals Barnes and Trippier are others who look set to get rare starts, further underlining how Eddie Howe’s squad looks to be in a good place at such a key time of the season.

Chris Sutton has been consistent with his Newcastle United predictions, that is consistently positive and correct, unlike most others.

For example, he has correctly forecast the Premier League wins over Villa, Man U and Spurs, as well as even pretty good with the exact scoreline predictions. The BBC Sport pundit predicting 3-1 against Villa (ended up 3-0), a 2-1 win at Man U (2-0) and 2-1 at Spurs (exactly correct).
