Birmingham City will be looking to enjoy a strong summer transfer window ahead of their return to the Championship for 2025/26.

The Blues blew their League One competition away this past season, setting a new EFL record after amassing 111 points on their way to the title.

Chris Davies already appears to have a squad capable of making some noise in the Championship next term, and should they conduct some smart transfer business this summer, they could well be toasting yet another promotion come May next year.

We asked our Birmingham City fan pundit, Mike Gibbs: 'What is one realistic signing you'd love Birmingham to make this summer and why?'

Gibbs said: "I think the one realistic signing for me that I'd love at the club would be Che Adams.

"I think, at Championship level, he's a proven goalscorer. He's obviously got ties with the club from before - I just think he'd be absolutely fantastic.

"I think that's probably something that we're missing as well, which is that real goalscorer. I think at that level, with some great players behind him and the likes of Jay Stansfield working with him, I think he'd be exceptional.

"I do think it's the one part of our team that we do need to drastically improve next year. I say drastically improve, I mean improve from what we did in League One.

"That attacking line - I think he'd be a really great addition to it."

Signed by Birmingham from Sheffield United for a reported fee of around £2m in August 2016, Adams quickly made that transfer fee look like a snip.

In three seasons with Brum between 2016-2019, the powerful centre-forward bagged 38 goals in 123 total appearances, including his superb final 2018/19 season at St Andrew's that saw him score 22 times in 46 Championship appearances.

Off the back of that, Southampton coughed up £15m to sign the striker in the summer of 2019, landing Birmingham huge profits on their fan favourite forward.

However, after five seasons at St Mary's, the Scotland international made the move to Serie A side Torino last summer, joining the Italian outfit on a free transfer following the expiration of his Saints contract.

But, despite signing a three-year contract with the club and hitting double-digit goals in his debut campaign, Football Insider have claimed that Birmingham are preparing a sensational reunion with their former hitman this summer.

Should the Blues complete a deal for Adams, he could form a deadly attacking duo with Stansfield. Given the League One record signing has been deployed as a centre-forward, winger and attacking midfielder this past season, Davies could certainly find a way to get both players into his starting XI.
