According to Bild, 25-year-old Birmingham City central-midfielder Ivan Šunjić has completed a medical at Bundesliga club Hertha Berlin and has already taken part in individual training.

The Croatia international has played 132 games in all competitions for Birmingham City over the last three years, scoring six and creating three after joining from Dinamo Zagreb for €8m.

Per Transfermarkt, Šunjić’s current market value is €4m and Birmingham City are looking to undergo a rebuild after finishing 20th in the Championship last season.

This also comes as Argentine midfielder Santiago Ascacibar nears an exit from Hertha Berlin after three seasons. The 25-year-old is one of seven players that could leave the Bundesliga club this summer as they look to reduce their squad size and increase their transfer fund for new arrivals.

Hertha have been relatively quiet this summer after appointing Sandro Schwarz as head coach last month. Jonjoe Kenny and Filip Uremović have both joined the club on free transfers from Everton and Rubin Kazan.
