Inter and Bologna were forced to split the points on Wednesday after a 2-2 draw at San Siro.
Scorers: Dumfries 19', Martinez 45+1'; Castro 15', Holm 64'
This encounter was back-and-forth drama for fans as both sides had their chances in front of goal.
The opener arrived thanks to a bit of luck when Santiago Castro was positioned in the right place at the right time to redirect a volley and wrongfoot Yan Sommer.
But Inter eventually found their touch minutes later as Marcus Thuram carried the ball forward on a counterattack. Denzel Dumfries then bundled home a shot from Federico Dimarco from point-blank range for 1-1.
Things were turned around completely when Dimarco teed up a surging Lautaro Martinez right before the break as the ball was roof into the net.
But then Bologna managed to claw themselves back into things after the break.
The previously dazzling Dimarco mistimed his aerial duel, and the ball fell to Riccardo Orsolini in the box. The winger picked out an un-marked Emil Homil at the top of the box, and he rifled home off the left post for 2-2.
And despite about half an hour left to play, there was not a late winner. The results mean Inter dropped points and sit three behind leaders Napoli, while Bologna are eighth.
