Brentford loanee Mads Roerslev might be in line for his Bundesliga starting XI debut this coming Saturday. The Dane’s current German outfit, Wolfsburg, are without Kilian Fischer, who is suspended. Wolfsburg enter the weekend encounter undefeated in four straight matches under head coach Ralph Hasenhüttl after  a sensational comeback over Stuttgart last week lifted them up to ninth in the table.

Roerslev might get the opportunity to start opposite fellow Danish international Joakim Maehle, who himself is returning from suspension. Yannick Gerhardt took over at right-back against Stuttgart last week. Despite a strong performance, Hasenhüttl noted that the long-time VfL player would be moving to the bench.

Of course I could also send Joakim there [on the right] and Yannick on the left because he did it properly, but I’m not really a fan of that,” Hasenhüttl noted on Thursday. “I’m not a fan of making wholesale changes to the team to make room for a player.”

Hasenhüttl also noted that he was considering Sebastiaan Bornauw as a potential replacement for Fischer. The Belgian does have some experience on the right, but has only worked in central defence thus far this season.

Hasenhüttl’s “good impressions” in training may nevertheless lead to Bornauw getting the nod. Bornauw hasn’t started since match-day seven this season. Roerslev, on the other hand, came on at the half for Fischer last week and made his own solid impression.
