Loaned out to Rodez by Caen last season, Andréas Hountondji (22) is set to join Burnley on a €4M deal, as reported by L’Équipe.

Despite facing fierce competition from newly promoted side AS Saint-Etienne and UEFA Champions League’s qualified Stade Brestois, Burnley managed to convince Hountondji to rally England next season for a first experience abroad. The Benin striker just came out of an outstanding season on loan at Rodez, netting 16 goals and delivering seven further assists to lead the club to a surprising fourth place in the standings, qualifying for the promotion playoffs before falling in the first round against Paris FC.

Being one of Rodez’s standout players during their promotion chasing fairytale, Hountondji will not come back to Normandy next season. With the recent appointment of Scott Parker following Vincent Kompany’s departure to Bayern Munich, Burnley had made the purchase of the young striker one of their priorities in their quest to come back in the Premier League next season. The Championship outfit have offered €4M to Caen for the Benin international, who will sign a four-year deal with the Hornets.
