Celtic’s latest title triumph was James Forrest’s 26th honour of his career, making him the most decorated player in the club’s history.
The 33-year-old has now won 13 league titles, seven Scottish Cups and six League Cups, and there’s an opportunity to add to that impressive haul of medals when the Hoops take on Aberdeen in the Scottish Cup final next month.
And alongside him for so many of those silverware successes has been his fellow Youth Academy graduate, Callum McGregor.
The midfielder has also been Celtic captain since 2021, and he’s delighted to see his friend achieve such legendary status.
Speaking to Celtic TV after the title-clinching match at Tannadice, Callum McGregor said: “For somebody so humble and to have come through the Academy, for the young lads who are in the Academy now it should be a huge shot in the arm for them to watch that.
“There have been so many special players who have played for this club over the years, and now James sits there on the top, and it couldn’t happen to a better person – the way he dedicates his life to football and Celtic.
“It’s an amazing achievement for him and his family. They’ll be so proud of them and like I said, it’s a big shot in the arm for the players in the Academy.
"It shows you that there’s a platform there and you’ve just got to keep working, but this is for James.”
James Forrest and Callum McGregor now have 50 winner’s medals between them, with the Hoops skipper now having won an impressive 24 trophies.
And the hunger to keep adding to that tally remains just as strong in both players.
“I think sometimes it gets lost on you because you’re just in the middle of the battle and you want to keep winning and keep doing as well as you can and keep pushing the team,” he said, “so sometimes it does get lost, the magnitude of what we’ve achieved in probably a short space of time as well.
“So we can enjoy that together. We were speaking about it in the dressing room after the game, and we are really proud of what we’ve achieved and the success that we’ve given the club.
“But the focus will very quickly turn to the next four games and then the cup final after that, and we want to finish what has been a brilliant season with three trophies.”
