Spanish goalkeeper Rubén Blanco, who spent the past campaign on loan at Olympique de Marseille from Celta Vigo, is set to sign a three-year deal with Les Phocéens, according to a report from L’Équipe. The 28-year-old is expected to return to Marseille as an understudy for Pau López (28). The Ligue 1 side were in the market for a back-up goalkeeper and have agreed to recall Blanco. The French publication understand that both Spanish goalkeepers have been working well together.
Blanco played six Ligue 1 games and one Coupe de France tie with Les Phocéens this past campaign. On Tuesday, Ouest-France broke the news that Celta Vigo were targeting Nantes and France goalkeeper Alban Lafont (24) as a replacement for the departing Blanco. However, RMC Sport understand that transfer talks have broken down between Les Canaris and the La Liga side. Lafont is entering his final year of contract with Nantes.
